Are These Skeletons In The Cupboard, Or Just A “Stairway to Heaven”?

Strange but true – What most of the team at MyMyk did not know is that we have a pedigree steeped in rock & roll.

In April 1969, Led Zeppelin performed at the Toby Jug Public House in Tolworth, Surrey UK. This was a date that had been booked prior to the launch of the first Led Zeppelin Album. Bound by contract, the now hugely famous band were committed to performing at this venue prior to their first US tour.

MyMyk CEO, David Green, was also performing at this venue as guitarist in another band performing at the Toby Jug Public House.

David continued his musical career working as a studio musician and recording engineer with many of the UK’s major bands. Meanwhile, Led Zeppelin went on to their own fame and fortune worldwide.

In 1984 (15 years later), David met up with Led Zeppelin guitar player Jimmy Page. David played bass guitar on a number of Mr Page’s solo studio projects. They also performed “Stairway to Heaven” at a private function in the summer of ’85 as seen below.

David still plays regularly with his Sydney based Blues and Jazz outfit, the “Bent Street Band”.

The Toby Jug Public House had a less fortunate future, even though it was a renowned venue for the British Rock scene (gigs were moved to the University and College circuit) in the late 60’s and early 70’s. The bulldozers of evolution could not be deterred, even with its history of rock & roll royalty, the Toby Jug was demolished in 2000 in favour of a round-about and overpass.

Keep watching our page as we are hoping to extract more of this Rock & Roll history from our CEO, David. After all, we do know he hides 2 Platinum, 1 Gold, and 1 Silver album under his desk.
